Ian Van Anden (he/him/his) joined the Division of Student Life in February 2020. He currently serves as the Associate Director for the Office of Leadership, Service, and Civic Engagement. Ian holds his B.A. in History and Communication from Monmouth College and M.S. in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. Previously he worked at Mount St. Mary’s University and Dominican University focusing on student engagement and leadership through civic engagement and social justice. Ian’s commitment to humility, empathy and resilience are at the core of his leadership philosophy as he seeks to engage students in developing their own responsibility to creating a more just world. When he is not working Ian can be found spending time with his family outdoors, playing sports, attending a baseball game or two, connecting with his communities, or napping in a hammock.
