The University of Iowa's Hawkeye Service Breaks program exists to promote service-learning, social justice, and community building to University of Iowa students through a service immersion experience.
The University of Iowa is a member of Break Away, a nonprofit organization that promotes the development of quality service break programs. Visit their website to learn more about the national movement toward active citizenship.
All students who wish to join a Hawkeye Service Breaks team must enroll in the corresponding 3 s.h. service-learning course (LS:1024) for the Spring semester. This is a 10-week course that will meet synchronously once per week in addition to a weekly online module.
Enrollment for Spring 2024 will begin according to students' specified course registration dates (please check university calendar and/or MyUI updates for specific Spring registration date). This program is open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
Students will participate in a Spring 2024 course and each course section will be focused within Iowa.
The final presentations for the course dates are still pending.
The course fee is $170. There are scholarships available for students who need assistance, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
